status on ipod touch 2g

does anybody know the status for jailbreaking the 2g ipod touch. im the only one in my house without a jailbroken ipod its terrible.

Aside from the sarcasm, we will here something the moment it is out I am sure. I feel devs are reluctant to give a "status" because then people hold them to a timeline and have the audacity to get upset if this timeline, for whatever reason, is not met.

I've been looking around and there isn't a jailbreak yet, but i don't know if i should get the new one. Ive bought a 32gb 1st gen iPod touch and think i might exchange it for the 2nd gen. But should I? I don't really care about spending more money for restocking fee and stuff, im gonna need all the external speaker n stuff if i keep the 1st gen and the only ipod accessory i have is just the skin which i don't really care about. I really want the 2nd gen n the built in speaker, volume switch, mic capability and jail breaking is cool. Should I?? I like jailbreaking too, it is able to be jailbreak one day though, right?

I want a opinion, because in my mind i would, but i am hesitated to especially because i wanted emulation and theme. This is also my first touch and ive only had it for a week, and filled it up, but i dont no much about it.
