I've got a jailbroken itouch, with 1.1.1 firmware, and 1.1.1 iphone apps.
I've been trying to get the mail app to work but it really isn't budging, everytime load up mail, it says "Cannot send mail: The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.gmail.com" failed." Is there anything that I'm doing wrong?

I've tried:
deleted and adding soo many times my account
changing the settings on my gmail account from the internet
google mail instead of gmail
different server ports,
pop.gmail.com instead of imap.gmail.com

at the moment my settings are:

Name: me!
Address: duuhitsmel@gmail.com
description: same as above

Incoming mail server:
username: (e-mail address)
password= *****

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
Host Name: smtp.gmail.com
username: (email)
password= *****

Under advanced--

Use SSL- ON
Authentication- Password >
IMAP Path Prefix- /
Servert Port 993

Use SSL- ON
Authentication- Password >
Server Port 587

Sorry for the long post, I'm just incredibly fed up with this thing!

That's because the outgoing port should be 465, not 587.
