You must pay to get 2.0
I just found this at the bottom of the Apple page for the iPod touch:

"*Access to the App Store requires the iPhone 2.0 Software Update for iPod touch, sold separately."

So, to upgrade your old iPhone or iPod touch, you have to buy the update.

How do you feel about that?

Only the iTouch cost money, for the iPhone, it's free.

Yea Steve mentioned it was pay ware for the touch but free for the phone during the iPhone 3G debut
