theres another app that does sms like the iphone (but no cool interface... )
its at http://sms.dynadel.com and it lets u save contacts for fast sms-ing

I havent tried this but IMO the best way to text is by using Beejive i wish the had and app like mobile chat or apollo

Most of my friends have stopped using instant messaging so this is my only way to talk to them when im at work.

you can text through im clients. just do a plus (+) then their phone number. e.g. +19495489954. make sure you put a one then area code for US.
