can i restore w/o itunes bricking my ipod?

i have jailbreaked my ipod touch 1.1.1 with touchfree and my videos wont play so i was wondering if i could do the shift+restore and restore with my 1.1.1 firmware and i would be ok to use jailbreakme.com to have a fresh jailbreak with nothing modded?
anyone? i want to start restoring soon if i can
