Getting full-sized "images" onto your iPod Touch

So, we all know that when you sync images to the iPod touch, it resizes them, so zooming in makes it look terrible. I think I've found a pretty easy method for getting full sized "images" (you'll get why I put it in quotes) onto your touch.

You need:
  • To be able to SFTP into your iPod
  • To have Installer.app
  • Some program that can "print" to PDFs (eg, Preview in Mac OS X)

Steps:
  1. Open your image in Preview (or similar app). Any image will do, as long as your app can open it.
  2. Select "File » Print", then find the option to print to a PDF.
  3. Save your image as the PDF, then SFTP into your phone. Create the directory /var/root/Media/PDF (so create the PDF directory).
  4. Place your new PDF into that directory.
  5. Install PDFViewer onto your iPod with Installer.app
  6. Open up PDFViewer, and enjoy your full-sized "image"!

These PDFs can be resized on screen, simulating resizing the actual image.

Click the image to open in full size.Click the image to open in full size.
