My iPod touch 4g iOS 5.1 jail broken is running slow. I tried uninstalling everything that would slow it down. I litterally have nothing except the vitals and sb settings. When I open an app I only have about 20mb of memory (that's without other apps open). When I open another app on top of it it's impossible. I can't multitask at all and everything is really buggy and crashes all the time. Idk why this is happening when I dont have any mods installed that would slow it down. Any way to speed it up?

You don't have spire on there eh? That has a memory leak and would be causing this. If not I would do a restore as new.

My iPod was once very slow while jailbroken tethered. Try turning off and run Just Boot from redsnow.
If this doesn't work, a restore will work.

So you guys are saying I have to loose everything and restore? Sigh

Try what cel said. But I think it's best to restore to new

Yea, try that. I doubt it'll help in your case but it's worth a shot. Restoring is a tedious process IMO

Thanks guys. Grrr I hate apple. They put no ram on it whatsoever. Other phones run way faster

Ipods have little RAM. iPhone's has much more
05-19-2012, 02:01 PM #9
Think they come with what like 150?
05-19-2012, 02:45 PM #10
The most I've gotten in my iPod is 120, don't know for sure how much they come with though

Yeah I was surprised to find out how little RAM the iPod Touch 4G has in comparison to the iP4. The two of them were released nearly the same time, no? If not then I apologize lol.
But yeah, I know my iPhone 4 gets about 300+ free RAM, around 200 with some apps open, much lower with themes on though so I don't theme anymore. iPhone 4 and I'd imagine the 4S get a good amount of free RAM, which makes the iPod touch look really disappointing IMO.

Yeah I was disappointed. Also the camera was a joke. Apple better make up for the 4g this year. Anyone hear if they're releasing a 5g iPod touch this year?

No news of it yet

Talking about cameras Apple should fix the MacBook Air's camera. My gosh it's awful compared to my MacBook Pro's camera. Good thing I don't use the cam on my MBA though lol. There really should be some major upgrades on the iPod touch though. It's just lacking compared to an iPhone, especially when it costs more than most other devices out there. I'm happy with my iPhone though, Apple does a good job on the iPhones for the most part.

Yeah I have a feeling iPod touch is over :/

You jailbroke with Redsn0w correct? The new version of Redsn0w for iOS 5.1 and 5.1.1 is pretty buggy and causes alot of issues. It's just Redsn0w itself, not the jailbreak. Restore and use Sn0wbreeze instead, it's alot more stable.
