home button may be broken, what do i do?
my home button may be broken. i am eligible for apple repairs, but i am jailbroken. my freind "borrowed" my ipod and messed through my settings. ever since my home button dosent work ( or at least not very well). sometimes it does eventually other times it dosent. he may have messed with my activator. i cheacked to make sure it was assigned to work as a home button, and it wasnt so i set it too. then whenever i wuld open the app would close af if the home button was jammed down. so i disabled it and switched it to tapping both volume buttons simultaniously. but i dont know what he did. could be button be just fine? if not, i can restore and take it to apple. but i dont want to have to restore to find out. if it is broken, i wont be able to rejailbreak to switch it back to my volume buttons, because i cant go into dfu mode. also, right now, since my home button is pressing both volume buttons simultaniously, if when i go to restore it and put it in pwned dfu, do i use the volume buttons of home button? will volume buttons work if the device is turned off? what should i do. itouch 4g 5.0.1

Solution #1
1. Turn your iPod on.
2. Hold the on/off button until the "slide to power off" pops up.
3. Hold the Home Button until the "slide to power off" goes away.
Problem solved?
Solution #2
A restore may be your only way out; but before you restore, backup all of your Cydia packages using pkgbackup in Cydia.
Solution#3
Open Settings>Activator>Reset Settings
That will set all activator settings to default values.
Solution #4
Unistall and Reinstall activator.Last edited by AkAdeMicKs; 05-10-2012 at 10:57 AM.

Yea, it's probably broken. Tell your friend he's owes you another iPod. If you don't want to take it to an Apple Store, then use Google for stores that fixes electronic devices.

Just restore, take it to apple, update to iOS 5.1.1, and wait like 2 weeks for the untethered jailbreak.
