New Video Offers First Glance at New 16GB iPod Touch 5G Without iSight Camera
Apple Thursday announced the milestone of having reached 100 million iPod touch sales. Apple also unveiled a new 16GB version of the fifth generation iPod touch, which is basically just like the 32GB and 64GB models, but without the lanyard loop, rear-facing iSight camera, and LED flash. Unlike the other models, the 16GB version only comes in black and silver rather than a selection of colors.
The new 16GB version of the iPod touch 5G still gives you the rich four-inch retina display, dual-core A5 chip, and Apple’s new Earpod headphones.
This quick video sneak peek by YouTube user BrandHitTech gives us one of the first real glances of the new iPod touch:

Notably, the rear of the device looks much plainer without the features introduced in the 32GB and 64GB versions. The front of the device looks just the same as any other iPod touch 5G, as you still get the front-facing FaceTime camera and four-inch display.
Is the 16GB iPod touch 5G worth it? – Here's our synopsis:
For $229, you are halving the storage space of the 32GB iPod touch 5G. In addition, you are losing the functionality of a powerful 5 megapixel rear iSight camera, any LED flashlight functionality, and a way to prevent yourself from dropping the device with the lack of the lanyard loop. For an additional $70, you double your storage space, get the photography and lanyard options back, have a way to find your way around in the dark, and even get to pick a different color device.
We still think it's a better choice to go with the 32GB model for the value, but the 16GB iPod touch 5G will still appeal to those simply trying to save money that have no real use for the extra bells and whistles.
What do you think about the more simplistic design of the 16GB iPod touch 5G?

Oh cool, so not only does Crapple know how to remove things from iOS, but now they're perfecting on how to do it with their hardware as well. So that means that the iPhone 5S won't have a camera, volume buttons, and maybe they will even step it up a notch and remove the home button just to show us all how INNOVATIVE they really are.

Why not just make an 8GB version with the iSight camera for $199? Then have the 32GB at $299. 64GB at $399. It worked on all the past generations.
