Nike+ Heart Rate Monitor for the iPod Set for June 1st Release

If you were holding off on that aggressive new workout routine until the iPod-compatible Nike+ heart rate monitor is in your possession, start stretching and preparing for a good sweat. And, while you're at it, mark your calendars for June 1st. If the latest "leak" is correct, that's the date you can expect the Nike + iPod Compatible Heart Rate Monitor for the iPod to roll out in the US.
Our friends at Apple Insider gleaned the info from a "Nike+ Pro" on the shoemaker's official forums. Having been teased a year ago after the 5th gen iPod nano was unveiled, the real deal may finally be within our reach (in the US) in a matter of days. The international market, however, will still have to wait a bit for the arrival.
"It will officially launch (in the U.S.) on June 1, 2010, although it may reach some retail outlets slightly sooner," wrote the Nike informant named Clover. "It will reach Canadian markets in June and will launch internationally in summer 2010, exact date to be determined."
If you're noticing a sobering lack of specifics here, you're not alone. While the June 1st release date sounds palatable enough for those who have been waiting for the roll out, we're still in the dark on a number of product attributes - most importantly, it's price. The yet-to-be known price tag joins device compatibility and appearance as other mysterious facets of this product's long awaited arrival. But if the June 1st date is correct, we're bound to get answers soon enough.

I'm buying this for the sole purpose of seeing how fast my heart rate will skyrocket whenever I fall after almost beating my high score in doodle jump.

They should package it with the iPad next; that would be soooo funny.

Of course, running won't be the only thing that drastically makes your heart rate rise while using your iPhone...

Sweet! I was just about to buy the Polar PTE (which I might still do) - but with a Nike+ HRM, I might not need to...
