New North Face Jacket Comes With Built-in iPod Controls
Just when you thought the North Face label couldn't get any cooler, the popular jacket-maker is behind the new "Hustle Audio Jacket."
Essentially, the new product line offers the same look and feel of the North Face jackets we know and love, but now they're "wired for sound" and customized for storing your iPod and allowing you to control it with a joystick embedded in the left sleeve.
From The North Face website:
Fashion meets function in this waterproof, breathable, fully seam sealed jacket. Outfitted with innovative audio capability, this new jacket is wired for iPod use with an external joystick control pad on forearm.
If you thought the iPod beanie was expensive, the price tag on these jackets will make your head spin. The North Face jackets with built-in iPod controls retail for up to $600 at some locations, although several websites are presently offering the high-tech threads at a substantial discount.
In a nutshell, these nifty jackets are made to be iPod compatible thanks to "CONNECTEDwear," which enables one wearing this particular jacked to control an iPod through a series of readily accessible buttons embedded on the jacket’s sleeve. The inspiration behind the idea is that its much easier to bear the cold when you can enjoy and control your favorite music without having to expose your hands or iPod to the cold air.
Technical, rider-specific features designed into jacket including adjustable, removable hood, Recco® avalanche rescue reflector, pit-zips, bicep pocket with goggle cloth, and powder-related features to keep riders dry on days when it doesn’t stop dumping the white stuff.

I'd also like it to have some solar cells to recharge my battery. Maybe in the 2G version of this jacket

Pretty cool, but Analog(Burton owned snow clothing Co.) has had this years ago.
But even back then it cost a child support payment.

I have a similar one (not northface) for skiing and its awesome, i love being able to have my tunes on and not have to take my gloves off, open my pocket to get to my iphone etc just to skip track, turn it down or off...coupled with my beanie that has speakers built in (not one of those *** new ipod beanies) my winter sports are a million times more fun than they used to be...! More companies need to make this sorta stuff.

i love north face gear but 600 bucks is joke! F-off!!!
12-17-2009, 01:46 AM #18Actually it's not $600
Check out this link to The North Face website. They have it listed for $349 which is a lot more reasonable.

now something that might actually make sense. this would definately be good for a day snowboarding on the slopes.....but as far as the price goes my pocket works juuuuust fine. besides most jackets nowadays come with custom ipod pockets anyways....and yes before you say anything. i know the North Face has external controls.[very nice feature] not $600 nice though. and yes im sure its all North Face quality. but again. my custom ipod pocket does just fine.
