i followed the instructions and i guess it worked but when i download apps from cydia they don't show up on my springboard. Have them in the settings menu and cydia says they are installed. What do i need to do. I've rebooted. Can't even download winterboard or sbsettings

You don't need to buy the firmware. Just use the file that you download for the jailbreak! You can use it for both!

Is it a good idea to upgrade to 3.0 already? Are all/most the apps still working? I don't want to lose functionality and be a test subject.

I've used it for a couple of days. It works perfectly. And I jailbroke like five seconds after the upgrade. I think it's worth it.

whoo! I just tried this out and it works great... took me about 10 min tops to get the new firmware and jailbreak 3.0 on windows...

Just jailbroke my Touch. With previous hacks, we had to ssh mobileinstallation 2.2.1

Is there a new version out or will the previous version work?
