RedSn0w 0.72/0.8 is only for FW 3.xx the ipsw you gave selected FW 2.21 so you either need a later FW or an early RedSn0w - which version are you using?

my ipod touch (2.2.1 jailbroken firmware) won't restore to the 3.0 firmware i downloaded. I'm sure i downloaded the right one. It goes all the way until 'varifying software', then a pop up comes up saying an unexpected error occured, error(10). Apparently this error is very rare since i couldnt find much info about it. Some people say its probably itunes. i have version 8.1.something. I plan on using redsn0w for the jailbreak, but obvs i need to restore first. Help would be much appreciated

With the iPod Touch you have to pay for FW3.0

this easy
just update your ipod touch to 3.1.2 and download blackra1n for ur computer and jailbrake it. that easy. and if you wnat to use redsnow, download a ipsw. that is readeble by redsnow, in this case you should download another ipsw.

what blackra1n RC do you have? to have the latest one, download it from blackra1n.com, it should be blackra1n RC3. that one should work. if you have one of the new ipods your are going to JB and then re-JB and that will work because those new ipod have a new iboot app. if you are on a pc your computer must be a x64 bit. if you are in a mac you will not have a problem.

Ok! So, this is my first time doing all of this and I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I AM DOING! All I want to do is get Cydia for free apps and then maybe do a TEENY tiny bit of customization AND NOTHING ELSE. So, will this give me the Cydia app on my iPod Touch 2G so I can get the ********** app? Thanks!

hah ok. if you want, u can go to YouTube - andresaic's Channel and i have a video of jailbraking an ipod touch, this is should work with any ipod touch generation.

RedSn0w does not work for 3.12 - you will need BlackSn0w, but it might be tethered depending on the device.

Neither the Dev Team nor GeoHot approve of stealing software.
