Those characters are all that is keeping the iPod Touch 2g from a tether-less Jailbreak. The Dev team have already released both tethered and semi tethered jailbreak. With some more playing they now have the iPod Touch 2g within 8 bytes of booting without a tether. With a little work you can even create a dongle yourself to boot your Jailbroken iPod Touch while on the go.

The video above by MuscleNerd demonstrates a dongle in action. Expect instructions on how to make this happen soon via The Dev Team.

I agree my son is driving to me crazy about this. Well crazier I should say. Ever since we bought him the 2g ipod touch he has wanted it jailbroke but I am not going to do one that he has to have hooked to the computer when he turns it on. Great work Dev Team and thanks for all of your hard work.

I might be saying something very stupid here, but why not creating a java app to make your cellphone act as a dongle? I mean, most of us carry one of those things around anyway, and as far as I'm aware all current cellphone support usb connectivity..
