It is better than nothing, but it would suck if you had to do a reset while out and couldn't use your ipod till you got to the nearest computer.

Hello again, how do i extract files?
3) From your custom 2.2.1 ipsw, extract these (patched) files:
iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu (name it iBSS221pwn.dfu)
iBoot.n72ap.RELEASE.img3 (name it iBoot221pwn.img3)
4) From the official 2.1.1 ipsw, extract this (unpatched) file:
iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu (name it iBSS211.dfu)

great work but as my girl is the one with the iTouch i'll have to pass on this mod for now. Just in case she turns it off or kills the battery(very likely), and i'm not there she'd be pissed as she loves her iTouch. I'm often gone so this wont work for now

It's not complicated at all actually... everything is extremely straight forward and explained step by step... just because it's not a program that does EVERYTHING for you doesn't mean it's not usable.

I agree, anyone remember the Carnival days? When I first unlocked my 1g it took me at least 30-45 minutes. Lots of commands.

but you might be able to do this with winpwn just add the firmware and custom packages into the directory then follow the teams instructions

not sure exactly because i'm a mac so tell me if it works

ok, so ive done everything successfully, but i when i boot the ipod, theres no cydia. any ideas? i tried rebuilding my custom ipsw with pwnage multiple times also to include addition applications, but none of them show up on my springboard. the ipods definitely been jailbroke because it will not boot without completing through step 11.

What I love about this is that there's no 'easy, out-of-the-box' way to do it. I still remember when cracking an app had more to do than clicking some buttons or typing a serial.

Anyway.
