Executing ramdisk or booting custom kernel?
Hi there!

I recently restored my ipod2,1 on 4.2.1 so i could work with syringe, anthrax, and irecovery on a non-jailbroken ipod. To start off i tried to boot with the greenpois0n kernel so it would run unsigned code for the one boot. I used 'tetheredboot -i iBSS.n72ap -k kernelcache.release.n72' everything worked but the ipod stayed white instead of flashing and showing the lockscreen (booting). So i connected with irecovery -s and heres what it said:
Then i rebooted and tried passing the restore ramdisk for 4.2.1 as well. Same errors:Code:Attempting to validate kernelcache@ 0x09000000 image validation failed but untrusted images are permitted error loading kernelcache
Whats wrong?Code:Entering recovery mode, starting command prompt image validation failed but untrused images are permitted loaded ramdisk at 0xc000000 of size 0xf0a000, from image at 0x9000000 Attempting to validate kernelcache @ 0x09000000 image validation failed but untrusted images are permitted error loading kernelcache

I've done an ssh kernel on a 4.2.1 3GS but not a iPod2 and my internal knowledge is very limited. A rough guess: the greenpoison kernel is bad or not built correctly but you're probably already thought of this.

Look here: Emergency SSH access using a pwn'd DFU mode RamDisk
BTW: That thread is the total extent of my knowledge on the subject

thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
it worked. i had console access on a injail device which is pretty cool. btw, the ssh is not in the kernel, its in the ramdisk :P the kernel is just to allow all code whether its by apple or not (allows ssh server). l8r im gonna see if i can redo the same stuff but change ssh.tar to have my code
again thnx a billion times
