120 gb defective?!?

i bought this ipod a while back, but i was not quite ready to use it yet. (due to the computer was not set up) and about a month after owning it and not using it the compuer was set up and to find out that when connected to the computer the ipod has a black lit screen. and nothing seams to get rid of this. (hold menu center and pause center) any help?

Did you drain the battery and then try to restore it?
