1st Gen Touch

Okay not sure if I am the only person still rockin' the 1st Generation Touch but anyhoo, here is my dilemma: I am trying to find a good pair of headphones with mic so I can start making Skype on my Touch. I read some mixed reviews on the ones that apple sells but wasnt sure if I had any other options....?

Sorry to disappoint, but only the iPhones and iPod Touch 2/3G can support microphones. The reason being is that the iPod Touch 1G doesn't have that extra band in the headphone port to allow transfer between the device and headset.

The video on CNET.com that shows you making calls with the 1G Touch cannot be done. Am I better off upgrading to the 3G version of the Touch or the 2G?

Yes it can be done you need to buy a mod for the ipod touch 1gen to connect a mic for it to work

This is one site that i believe would work on 1st Gen, i having trouble finding the old mod, i keep looking for you.

the reson i think why i con't find the site any more besuase it was like back when the ipod touch first gen was release and that was when jailbreaking wasn't so big, but when i get home i might have store the site.

The iVoice III works with my 1Gen iPod Touch. There may be a few apps that don't recognize the mic. But again Skype does work with the iVoiceIII.
