If you screwed up your phone and failed to restore by iPhone, you can always go to the DFU mode by pressing the HOME + SLEEP/WAKE button for 10 seconds, and then HOME button alone for 10 seconds. You must do that when the iPhone is either completely booted up, or completely switch off. The backlight will not on but iTunes should be able to restore the firmware, including the baseband.
So with this mode, you can rescue a lot of bricked iPhone. Hope that helps.

Just so you all know i have successfuly downgraded my baseband to 3.14.08, from 04.01.13 while keeping the firmware at 1.1.1. I have also unlocked my iphone using ericas unlocker which was meant and only works with 1.02 baseband. hence the need to downgrade just the baseband.
I did this following this guide, and it was fairly easy once i realised i had skipped some steps, i skipped them becuase it said they were optional but they weren't in my case.
I know that a new anysim is out to unlock 1.1.1 automatically, but i had to have a go at this long manual way.
Thanks,
james

I purchased a new iPhone about 2 days ago and tried to unlock it. AnySim 1.1 crapped out on me and using this tutorial and a few others I put together this tutorial on how to completely virginize a bricked stock 1.1.1 iPhone:

Hope it helps anyone in need.

I succesfully unlocked my iphone version 111. But in the end it says: "Congratulations! You've successfully unlocked your baseband by not corrupting it like anySIM 1.0.2/iUnlock does. Feel free to upgrade to v1.1."
Before messing everything up. Is this just after everything worked go into restore mode and press restore selecting the 111 upgrade file?
Do I have to do some stuff afterwords later again? Or is it just done then?
Hope someone can help me out!
What a lame guide. Just upgraded like it said to 111. Can start all over again!!!!
Best regards,
