Ok, I'm closer I think......I saw the commands in the bsd directory...so switched over to the bin folder and now got a permission error....so its finding it now. I double checked the access and its rwxr-xr-x
/private/var/root/bin$ rm /var/root/Media
-sh: line 42: ./rm: Permission denied
Thoughts?
This is the right dir structure I should have, correct? Want to make sure the bsd files are in the right spot.
/private/var/root$ ls
Library
Media
Media.old
bin
lib
sbin

Try skipping cyberduck and using the scp method I posted for ya. At least you should be able to get installer on then and that's really what you need more than anything else.
Try renaming it instead of removing it
mv /var/root/Media /var/root/Media.bak
restart your iPhone then try this stuff again btw, I think it could use a reboot to catch some stuff you've added.Last edited by TheYoshi; 10-11-2007 at 07:06 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I followed your directions and got installer and the new plist so i can see the isntaller via Terminal. But there are no sources and Installer is blank then crashes after 10-15seconds. I am assuming this internet plug in goes somewhere for that, but can't figure it out. I assumed in "/System/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" because thats how it was set up in the installer folder I DL'd and it usually works that way, now i think i've created a folder where it doesn't belong...whoops.
But i DO have Installer displaying properly on my iPhone, just nothing when i open it up. Getting closer.

After trying to put the BSD files into the root, WinSCP says "Error listing directory '/'" Any suggestions? I already have the files in private/var/root, but couldn't get springpatch to run, so figured I had them in the wrong "root."

omg screw this...i have wasted at least 5 hours of my day on this...I dont have time for this anymore. Im going back to 1.0.2 so im happy until a better method comes out.
I thought I finally had it and then i went to install SSH (in OSX on PPC) via these directions http://modmyi.com/wiki/index.php/Dev..._SSH_1.1.1_OSX
and this was the output.... i dont understand why it couldnt execute... I have tried thw windows and the mac OS directions. do i just need to do this on an intel mac instead of my PPC???

Code:--------PHASE 1: Getting files off your iPhone--------- /Users/RoyMan/Desktop/iPhone SSH Install for Mac/iPhoneMacSSHInstall.sh: line 17: ./iphoneinterface: cannot execute binary file --------PHASE 2: Uploading files and reconfiguring your iPhone--------- /Users/RoyMan/Desktop/iPhone SSH Install for Mac/iPhoneMacSSHInstall.sh: line 33: ./iphoneinterface: cannot execute binary file --------PHASE 3: Restarting your iPhone--------- Press and hold the Power button on your iPhone until it shows the 'slide to turn off' red slider. Slide it, wait for the phone to turn off, and press the power button to turn it on again.

Itunes and the helper are both closed down.
QUESTION: I'm trying to get the internet plugin for Installer to my phone via Terminal, but Terminal doesn't seem to recognize the space in the folder "Internet Plug-Ins", it just says "Internet" doesn't exist- is there a special something i need to do to get it to recognize the space?

"daniel-greens-computer:~/Desktop/Installer1.1.1/System danielgreen$ scp -r System [email protected]:/System/"Last edited by daniel_emt; 10-11-2007 at 07:43 PM.

Thank you, thank you thank you!
Im done, got my space back....woohoo!
Now, my only question is what command will delete directories that have files in them? I want to get rid of the ones in the incorrect location and tried rm and rmdir, but neither remove them cause there is stuff inside.
Worst case I can leave them there or do the process again, but it really won't hurt anything, right?
Is there a bsd comand to delete the directory even if it has files in it?
And again....THANK YOU!
