This is gonna sound like a stupid question but I've been lookin and I haven't been able to find an answer. I'm using my old cingular sim card and not the att one that came with the phone, am I able to use this jailbreak method or do I have to wait?

I did that off that bat and actually had some other difficulties. Here's the guide (with COLOR PICTURES!)

bytebak - you can't but it's ok, you don't need to.
IPSF just released an update, just download the new version of IPSF.app from the website and run it again it will fix the baseband (I assume) as it guarantees an upgrade to 1.1.1
figures...I just spend about 3 hours working it out manually!

it is yes, but it scrolls sideways, it's included when you jailbreak, pretty impressive, here's a shot of it in action

Hi, apologies for repeating this in more than one forum but starting to panic a little.
I followed the excellent Jailbreak instructions for my iTouch and things went well until number 12. The final stage.
I typed in the 'putfile' instruction and waited. It says should take a minute or so but nothing happened for 5 minutes and I assumed it might be done so tried to reboot. Now my Touch is stuck with the apple screen and wont start and the Terminal is showing: putfile: Failed to open remote file: 11.
Anyone help this beginner?

FURBY - make sure you're using the right password (the password for access in 1.1.1 is "alpine")
not sure about windows, but in OS iNdependence can still instal SSH, what used to instal SSH on windows for 1.0.2. can that not be used?

Something has gone wonky during your hack, it happens a lot I don't know the reason, you'll need to re-do the hack, it should then show the full storage amount

the 300mb apparently has something to do with "Services.plist" going funny during a hack.
before doing a full re-hack try this
go back in to iphone interface
type in:
cd /System/Library/Lockdown
then type in:
putfile Services.plist
Hold down the home and power buttons at the same time until the display turns off... then hit just the power button on the top.
That should fix it.Last edited by arcsbite; 10-11-2007 at 04:56 AM.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection...harmony between Apple and 3rd Party Apps.
Thx to Gizmodo for pics & Kermit for song
Not as good as "here's to the crazy ones apps" video but...

the installer.app I'm not sure about, I had an old one but it doesn't work, it needs to be the new v2.63
..which after a quick dig I've managed to pull out of my phone lol
just copy this into your phones Applications folder (via SSH), when you reboot your phone it'll appear.
Installer.app (v2.63)

I can get as far as updating to 1.1.1, but then iTunes no longer recognizes my phone. I reboot, turn off and on the Apple Mobile Device service, try a different computer, unplug and replug, everything. No recognition, so no activation. Suggestions? Thank you!
