pwnage delayed

Yes pwnage has been delayed. It will not be released until sometime later this week. They will be bringing more cool stuff with the delayed release including:

Support for Mac OS X 10.4.x, 10.5.x and Windows.
Revised Logos and Icons

It appears the legality of pwnage has been questioned and the dev teams response is "PwnageTool does NOT ship with any Apple licensed software, Intellectual Property, trademarks, logos or images."

So while were all looking forward to todays release, we'll just have to wait a bit longer.

Exactly... no copyrighted or trade mark images to avoid legal ramifications. But thats' ok... small sacrifices for immense gains.

Meanwhile I get to watch Texas being Pwned by Memphis... GRRR!! I was hoping the release of Pwnage would make up for this...

here are my two cents, for the world of it i do not understand what this has to do qith copyrights? I own a apple iphone, isnt that correct? so why would or can they say anything against that? if i own a Maytag fridge and put a GE magnet on it, do i violate copyright laws, or do i get sued? no i dont think so , APPLE get of my nutt i am tired of hearing that crap, it should be up to me what i do with my iphnoe, or is apple a dictator? get youre crap together and let us do what we want , thanks

it's not that you own the device, its that the app can not have any copyrigted material, and images are part of it, in it. It's more so for the fear of prosecution for using apples copyrighted files and such, ie firmware(s) or DLL's for windows users. I am very anxious, but will wait patiently for the release

I can't wait until we can create a complete backup ipsw of the current setup, allowing for one easy restore (I know this release will not bring that, but am just saying...)

Don't know why some of you are impatient? If your iphone is jailbroken, unlocked and there are no issues then pwnage is not necessary (unless you want a customized boot screen). After all, how often do people rebuild their iPhones? I've only had to do this once due to a buggered iNdependence release.

It's great that this method will unlock 1.2 and cool you can create firmware images with custom payloads; but I'm sure Apple will probably throw in md5 checks on firmware in the next iTunes release and stuff it up anyway.

yes, it means no copyrighted materials would be included. You'll have to source your own firmware
