03-30-2008, 12:37 PM #90The main difference is that everything is done prior to the FW even being on your device.
Consider it a Monster Pack builder. You can assemble the firmware to have whatever you need, eg software, tweaks, unlock, etc.
While the end result is similar to doing it on a already flashed phone, it makes the process more safe and secure.
Down the road, it will also allow for many more things to be included...base level options that we currently have no access to (for example BT profiles)
It's much easier to inject code into the FW file itself then to execute it on the device post flash.
For more info, google Monster Packs.
It should give you an idea of what might be possible.

Let's see how long we can make this thread with useless posts like "is it out yet?.... i'm still waiting... Yes! I can't believe it!" Or maybe a mod can consolidate them all into one huge MEGAPOST. HAHA

custom repo
go to iappcat.com, you can make your own rep with all of the apps you want and just go through and install everything all at once.
another option, that i'm assuming would work on this pwned phone as it has worked with every other jb, is to copy your native apps from the applications folder and the installer .plists and then ssh all of that over to the fresh pwned phone. that gets a little tricky with things like bsd though, i had a huge problem getting that to install, or reinstall as installer thought, but that may have been something with the servers hosting bsd subsystem. if you need any more help let me know.

The expected release of the Mac OS X version of “PwnageTool” has been delayed until sometime next week.
Legal enquiries were made to the DevTeam about the validity and legality of the contents of the tools, we would like to stress that no third-party copyrighted software will ever be released by the DevTeam.
Also, initial feedback from Beta testers has indicated that a few small changes and additional features should be developed.
Another major request from the Beta testers and demo viewers is that the team brings forward the release of the Windows version, with the feedback that has been received the team has decided to expedite the release of the Windows tool for a dual platform release sometime next week, iPod touch support will also be finalized.
The DevTeam would like to thank the users for being patient and wait for the upcoming release.
The video presentation that was released yesterday has been viewed over 100,000 times in 24 hours proving the overwhelming demand for the application.
To summarize :-
*
Pwnage Tool Application releases _sometime_ in the next week for Mac OS X 10.4.x, 10.5.x and Windows.
*
The tool contains revised logos and icons.
*
PwnageTool does NOT ship with any Apple licensed software, Intellectual Property, trademarks, logos or images.
*
As my Mother would say “If you are going to be late, arrive with flowers”.
