I'm not sure on the specifics, cuz I'm no hacker, but jailbreak is like changing the phone from read-only so that you can change things. Once you jailbreak your phone, you can Unlock your phone, up/download stuff from there, etc...

lol

This jailbreak isn't qhat you need to unlock your iPhone. The iPhone dev team is working on a clean, user-friendly way to run jailbreak, and stated in Erica's blog on the TUAW, there's still a lot of kinks to work out, but it can be possible.

I can assure though, sooner or later they'll find out how to unlock your iPhone, just gotta wait a little bit longer.

As for future upgrades, I'm an employee of Apple, and some co-workers and I have been talking about future upgrades, and although our convos have nothing to do with apple, and we are merely speculating and have NO INSIDER INFORMATION (right now at least. . .), we think that future updates won't be as bad as this, as apple will surely get the hint that everyone is going to be wanting third party apps, etc., and with the lawsuits from this update, they certainly wouldn't want more.
If they really wanted to shut down the iPhone to where you can't do anything with it, I'm sure everyone's iPhone would be bricked, which Apple doesn't want, I assure you

Just remember to give give give to the dev team, they most definitely deserve it

Congratulations Guys and good work. Everyone should just be patient it's a lot of work to do this and living a little while longer on 1.0.2 is not a big deal.

And yes i am sure Apple will try to shut this down in their next release however their attempt to do that in 1.1.1 has now cost them a class action law suit and bad press from LA Times to Businesweek. In the long run they are not pursuing their customers best interest or their own.

But as long as they continue to be Borg I will keep contributing and supporting the folks that give us Freedom.

Sweet. This'll calm all the iTouchers down too. This has gone much quicker than I thought it would go. Kudos!

Yeah, and I wish Apple would stop trying to stop us from hacking it, or they'll kill the iPhone the way Sony killed the PSP.

I'm gonna Donate too, These guys are simply awesome.

Lets hope Apple Doesn't find a work around the Tiff exploit (which will be really really easy for them...sorry to break that to you).

Anyways, I'm glad that im going to have some awesome features on my iphone like double tap home button. I love that function.
