Verizon Announces That VoLTE is Coming Soon to its Cellular Network
On Tuesday, Verizon Wireless announced that HD Voice and Video Calling would be coming to the company's 4G LTE network. In coming weeks, Verizon customers with smartphones capable of these features will finally be able to take advantage of them.
Better known as VoLTE (Voice Over LTE), this new service allows for better quality, high definition sound in voice calls using the 4G LTE network instead of forcing the device you're calling from to drop down to a 3G network for calling and impacting sound quality.
Not all devices support VoLTE, and if you have a VoLTE smartphone and the person you're calling doesn't, then you're still going to be stuck with a regular-quality phone call; this also applies if you're calling someone on another carrier. The feature kicks in when both phone users have a VoLTE smartphone and are using the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network in range of the feature.
Because the feature is an emerging feature, we expect that the restrictions will be lifted in the future as it becomes more widespread among different carriers and smartphones. The upcoming iPhone 6, which Apple is expected to unveil some time this Fall, may or may not support VoLTE.

Who cares! (no problems with the voice quality the way it is)
Stop throttling internet connections if you really want to give us something useful

It's not an iPhone issue that you can't do data/voice simultaneously. It's a CDMA issue. I use GSM and use voice and data simultaneously all quite often with no problem.

I have AT&T so I don't have that problem. :-)
