BlackBerry Ready to Get Back to Battling Apple
Don't call it a comeback! That's likely the attitude of leaders at BlackBerry who, while admitting a rough patch in recent years, don't act as though the embattled Canadian smartphone maker has ever really been out of the game.
If truth be told, however, BlackBerry is now a frail shell of its former self in terms of market share and company revenue. But don't count 'em out. That's according to a new announcement from BlackBerry, which states that the company's reorganizing process is now behind them.
BlackBerry is "back on a growth footing," an internal memo to employees reads, according to Reuters. "We have completed the restructuring notification process, and the workforce reduction that began three years ago is now behind us," BlackBerry's Chief Executive John Chen is quoted.
Even if BlackBerry is ready to get back to battling iPhone and Android devices for a bigger cut of the smartphone market, it won't be ready. And BlackBerry knows it.
"More importantly, barring any unexpected downturns in the market, we will be adding headcount in certain areas such as product development, sales and customer service, beginning in modest numbers," added Chen.
BlackBerry's workforce has constricted by approximately 60% since 2011.

RIM you're 7 years late to the party. You should have "fought" Apple in 2007. Just put your stupid head back in the sand and die quickly already.

Ya they just sat back and racked in money from government sales/contracts and did nothing to keep up with changes in tech and design. Then Gov decided to change over to iOS and Android, ops bye bye RIM!!!!

HAHA! RIM hasn't scored a bucket in so long, they forgot how to play the game.

In addition to the obvious stated by everyone else posting here, any company that refers to their human employees as "headcount" deserves to die.

Awww... RIM don't let the bullies scare you. I believe you can do it.
Honestly, I hope they make an excellent comeback. They still have the most secure platform.
I loved my Blackberry. Honestly even after I switched to iPhone I still liked typing on a Blackberry better.

However I really hope that changes because I can't stay on ios 6 forever, I mean already its becoming an issue with compatibility and such, and so that is a problem.
