Default Facebook Releases New Mentions App for the iOS Platform Aimed at Public Figures

On Monday, Facebook launched a new application on the iOS platform called Facebook Mentions. It is now available in the App Store as of this writing.

The new application is targeted at public figures that manage Facebook accounts for their followers so that they can see what the world is saying about them, share information and media with fans, and get involved with the conversations among people. The kinds of people that can get involved with this new application include athletes, musicians, actors, politicians, and more.

Some of Facebook's promotional images showing what the application can do are below:

Unlike most of Facebook's application icons, Facebook Mentions gets a dark Facebook application icon that looks much like the original, only blacked out:

To learn more about Facebook Mentions, you can head over to the Facebook Mentions Web site. It does have a limited target audience, so that's something to keep in mind. The Facebook Mentions application for iOS can be downloaded for free from this App Store link.

I didn't read it but a little bit but why don't they implement this into 1 app?

I'm with you. I don't understand FaceBook's obsession with separating every individual feature into its own app.

    ......beware......
