'Almpoum' Gives You an Improved Screenshot Management System in iOS
There have been many tweaks in the past that have tried to make it a better experience to take screenshots on iOS, and most of them do a pretty good job, but a new free jailbreak tweak called Almpoum by iOS developers Elijah Frederickson and Andrew Abosh is now available with what looks like the most polished user interface to date.
With the tweak installed, whenever you take a screenshot by pressing the home and sleep buttons at the same time, you will get an alert message that asks you what you want to do with the screenshot, and it will have a few options that you can pick from, as shown above.
You can pick to have the screenshot saved to your Photo Library, saved to your Clipboard, or both. There's also a cancel button for when you accidentally take a screenshot, but didn't mean to.
It's also worth noting that the tweak makes a separate album in your Photo Library for Screenshots. This will help you better organize them from the rest of your photo library.
The tweak adds a preferences pane to your Settings application where you can configure a variety of different options:
From here, you will be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as choose what happens when you take a screenshot, enable or disable and configure a separate album dedicated solely to screenshots, and configure the behavior of your device when you take a screenshot. The behavior options that you have to pick from include:
- Enable or disable the screen flash
- Enable or disable a darkened flash
- Enable or disable the screenshot sound
- Notify or don't notify applications of screenshots
- Upload or don't upload screenshots to Photo Stream
Almpoum will easily make taking screenshots a more pleasant and user-controlled experience on iOS. The tweak is an open-source jailbreak tweak; it's source code can be viewed on Github at this link. If you would like to give Almpoum a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository – it works on all 32-bit and 64-bit iOS 7 devices.
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.6
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.6
Developer: Elijah Frederickson and Andrew Abosh
