Apple Purportedly Pulls iPhone 4 from India
According to the latest Apple scuttlebutt, the iDevice maker has pulled the plug on its iPhone 4 inside of the Indian market.
Sources within Apple's retail partner base tell The Times of India that iPhone 4 supplies are rapidly dwindling as Apple pushes its iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c more aggressively in the world's second most populous nation.
As of this writing, Apple isn't accepting new orders for its iPhone 4, which means India will soon be without this particular model. Although the iPhone 4 has been a strong seller, Apple feels that consumers have more to gain by moving forward with the times more aggressively by pushing current generation products.
"Itís also advantageous for Apple to ditch the iPhone 4 because of software support," says Darrell Etherington of TechCrunch. "The smartphone is now four years old, and while it does technically support iOS 7, it doesnít offer a number of the new operating systemís features, like turn-by-turn navigation, panorama mode, AirPlay mirroring or Siri to name just a few."
Of course, in the near future, this decision could hurt Apple, as the iPhone 4 was Appleís lowest priced device for Indian consumers.
