VoiceSnap is a Cool New Voice-driven Camera App for iOS 7 With Awesome Features
The same iOS developer (Home School Dev) that brought us the LivePhotos jailbreak tweak that we showed you at the end of April has been working hard on another cool project – an App Store application.
The application is dubbed VoiceSnap, and it's a voice and remote-driven Camera application for iOS 7, and it's really something to take a look at. It includes a wide variety of useful features, including the following:
- Tell the application to take a photo with your voice
- Connect another iOS device to your main iOS device and control VoiceSnap remotely
- Bluetooth device pairing for taking photos
- Social sharing for getting the photos that you take out there for your friends and family to see
The ability to use your voice, remote connections, or Bluetooth devices to snap photographs is very handy. It allows you to take pictures without actually touching the main device taking the photograph, which means you'll get a perfectly-still photograph with as much detail as possible.
You can use the volume buttons on Apple's EarPods or other headphones by Apple to snap photographs on your iPhone without touching the device, but you still run the rink of yanking on the cord and messing up your photograph. VoiceSnap, on the other hand, is completely wireless in every way that you use it.
If you wanted to use your voice to have the application snap a photograph, all you would have to say is, "VoiceSnap, take a picture." A photograph of whatever your device was pointing at would then be taken and saved to your Camera Roll.
With the remote device feature, you can use another iOS device of yours that has VoiceSnap installed, and you can pair the two devices. When you pair two iOS devices in this way, the device you're taking the picture with shows a blue banner that tells you what device is connected. The device you're controlling VoiceSnap with will show what device you're connected to, and allow you to snap a photograph with the white button, or disconnect from the connection:
In terms of Bluetooth pairing, this is what you would use with non-iOS devices, such as a Bluetooth microphone that you can tell VoiceSnap when to snap a photograph with, or a different kind of Bluetooth device with volume buttons that can be pressed as shutter buttons.
You can swipe up from the three lines at the bottom left of the camera interface to show all the photographs you've taken:
You can access the social sharing features when you tap on an individual photograph in the Camera Roll. The button at the left includes all of your social networking features, the button in the center includes all of your AirDrop and application sharing features, and the button at the right lets you delete the photograph:
Depending on your tastes, you can give the application a light or a dark theme:
VoiceSnap includes a number of other useful miscellaneous features too, such as a torch flash mode, which keeps the flash on even before you snap a picture, and a timer that lets you take a timed photograph after 3, 5, 10, or 15 seconds. These features are all accessed from the main Camera interface.
There is also a settings button on the main Camera interface where you can configure a couple of options:
Your options here include square cropping, a photography grid, configuring Bluetooth and remote devices, auto-saving photographs, deleting pictures on save, timer speech, theming, and recovering your last photograph.
VoiceSnap is a really cool photography application to play around with. At this point in time, the application only supports English for using the vocal photography. The application gives you a very sexy iOS 7 design scheme, and a number of features that we could beg Apple for and just never get. If you'd like to give it a try, it's available in the App Store for $1.99 via this App Store link and universally works on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Remember, this is a jailbreak developer's work!
For more information about the application, you can visit the VoiceSnap Web site.
