Apple Rumored to be Delaying Launch of a 5.5-inch iPhone Due to Battery Issues
According to the Industrial and Commercial Times from Taiwan, Apple’s larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 has been delayed and will launch in 2015. The report claims that the company is struggling with finding a sufficient battery that measures 2 mm or less to fit in the device’s “very thin” profile. The report also notes that Apple suppliers are referring to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 as the “iPhone Air,” which hasn’t been finalized as an official name for the device. If the claims are true, however, an iPhone Air would join Apple’s MacBook Air and the recently released iPad Air in carrying a similar name and delivering a product with a slim chassis.
Previous reports indicated that Apple’s 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will launch first this fall and have shared similar details about the 5.5-inch version being delayed due to production issues. A previous report from Reuters last month noted that Apple was having issues with in-cell production technology in the 5.5-inch version’s display with Japan Display, LG Display, and Sharp set to produce screens for the device.
In addition to a larger screen and thinner design, Apple’s next-gen iPhone is expected to include a new A8 processor, Touch ID fingerprint sensor and an upgraded camera featuring optical image stabilization. The Cupertino California is also said to be negotiating with carriers to increase the price of the iPhone 6 by $100.

Just make it 3mm. It's a cell phone - we don't need to shave with it.

So as of now the 4.7 will be regular price and 5.5 will be 100 bucks more. Or will they both be 100 bucks more.

I love my numerous Apple devices, but a $100 price hike might just move me over to Android.

I am still using an iPhone 4 that is 9mm thick and quite happy with it. Why is Apple so hell-bent on reducing the thickness all the time and causing themselves all sorts of problems. I would sooner have a thicker phone and a decent battery life as would millions of others.

Just don't understand why the idiots at Apple can't figure out that we don't want the worlds thinnest device...we want something that will hold a charge for 48 hours...work on that you tools! Please.

The Jobs era is gone and Apple has not recovered and probably won't.

I just hope they FINALLY stop making 8 and 16 gigabyte iPhones and step it up to 32, 64, and 128. I'm tired of them selling these dinky little phones that people fill with apps and photos in a matter of months, if not weeks or days. I wish they'd realize that larger capacity phones = more iCloud space to back up, = more money in their pockets.

Apple needs to get it together. Quick!

Apple will still be a strong force for years. Their iPhones have sold out quicker every year, and more are sold every year than the previous model. Despite losing Steve, they are continuing to make good, solid products that people want.
