On Monday, Square updated its highly popular Square Register application for iOS the latest version is now 4.4. Square Register allows users to accept credit cards as a form of payment, allowing users to use a handy credit card-swiping accessory that plugs into the headphone jack of any iOS device.

The update gives a lot of improvements to iPad users, but iPhone and iPod touch users can benefit from the update too. iPad users will be given an improved navigation menu that is much easier to use, and makes it quicker to access things like settings, reports, and messages from the application. Not only that, but the card swiper now has the option to leave a tip after swiping their card, and can also sign for a purchase on a paper receipt.

iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch users can all take advantage of bug fixes and stability improvements that improve the overall user experience of the application.

Those that don't have a Square account will need to make a new account to use the Square Register application. The card reader will be shipped to new users free of charge. Existing users of the Square Register application will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Square Register for free from the App Store via this link.
