Default Major FaceTime Outage For iOS 6 Users

It was recently spotted in an Apple Support Communities thread that many users who are running iOS 6 devices are unable to receive or make FaceTime calls starting from April 16th. This known issue is not affecting iOS 7 users and the company’s ‘System Status’ page says that the audio and video software is running properly. Apple has advised anyone experiencing this problem to upgrade their devices to iOS 7 but has yet to address a fix for the situation. However, a fix for this issue is expected to appear in the near future.

iOS 6 users make up a small percentage of overall iOS users. Apple released an official report earlier in the month that showed 87% of users are now running iOS 7, 11% are on iOS 6, and 2% are using an earlier version of Apple’s mobile OS.

Have you experienced this problem on iOS 6? Leave your comments below!

Wow! First I hear the bluetooth & Wifi greying out on 4S devices on iOS7+ firmwares and now this... It's strange, FaceTime worked so well while there was no iOS7... and now this?! I smell cheap tactics by Apple to force people into upgrading to iOS 7. Such a shame.. I love the products they make but hate the cheap tactics they use and blame it on the consumers for not upgrading on time... control f**ks!
I guess in a year or two, it'll be time to jump ship to the next best OS even if it's not as good as iOS.

No they do that because some devices are just not capable to run the features so they cut it off!

I have an iPod touch 4g, which highest software is 6.1, has not YET been affected by this and I very much hope it shall not as it is unfair, I don't want have to buy a new iPod and I do not appreciate being 'pushed' (well, shoved!) into doing this and I find this atrocious that they are doing this!!!

Oh wow. Talk about taking it step further apple. Next apple going to make viruses and sell an anti virus system just like the rest of the PCs do.

That's not always the case as the iPhone 4 could run Siri apple just didn't want to allow it! Along with 3d maps!

Don't worry, the problem will be fixed right after the easter holiday weekend. Apple is hoping you'll want to make a facetime call over the holiday weekend and update to ios 7!

Why? Unless you are pirating software or using themes that never work right the jailbreak is useless and has been for a while now. Every tweak I used with the jailbreak became available from Apple with the release of iOS 7 so why stick with inferior and unstable tweaks when the manufacturer offers a suitable solution? Either upgrade your device or stop crying that Apple is no longer supporting features on old operating systems. I wonder, are you also upset that there will be no more security updates on Windows XP too?

    Roger,
Not all apple devices will run iOS 7 and new devices are EXPENSIVE.
Also, which iOS 6 tweaks were 'inferior and unstable'? I'm using 6.1, have a whole bunch of tweaks installed and running fine.
Also, if I want to 'cry' that Apple no longer supports "old" operating systems; I will, and you can't stop me. Wha Wha wha!😭
    Also, get stuffed.👍👍👍

I didn't see you original post, but +1 for having the dignity to take down what you felt wasn't appropriate.
