'CamText' Lets You See Where You're Walking While You Text Message/iMessage
One of the big issues you might run into while text messaging is that your mind gets consumed in text messaging and sometimes you're won't be paying enough attention to your surroundings and you might bump into something. It's like the old saying goes – you can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
Fortunately, iOS developers Sassoty and Phillip Tennen are bringing eyes to your Messages application for you, so that while you text message or iMessage someone, you can see where you're going. It's a new jailbreak tweak called CamText, and it uses the rear-facing camera to give you a view of where you're going while you message someone, as shown above.
While you're messaging someone, the background of the Messages application becomes the view of the camera lens, while the keyboard, navigation bar, and text field all remain opaque with some blur.
CamText adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a few simple options:
From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as select how transparent the white background in the Messages application will be. You can have the white background be very opaque, so that the camera view appears faint, or you can back the white background be very transparent, so that the camera view appears very bold and clear.
CamText is an interesting idea, but always exercising caution and watching where you're going is still the best way to ensure that you don't bump into somebody, or something. Nonetheless, if you want to give CamText a try, it's right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository for just $1.49. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed and works on both 32-bit and 64-bit iPhones and iPod touches (not iPads).
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.6
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.6
Developer(s): Sassoty, Phillip Tennen

Texting is stupid. I only use my phone for emergency's.
I hate how every single person is always on their phone in public. Socializing occurs way less now. F*ck phones. You should talk to the people around you, not on stupid social networks.

Apple Tinkering with Safe Texting Technology
According to all the comments on that thread, there's been a bunch of apps on the app store that did this already (before they kept getting pulled). So if anyone at the patent office does their job they shouldn't be able to get the patent.

I get where your coming from but your so full of it.. "I only use my phone for emergencys" then buy a POS flip phone with mins. Like the nerve.
But my original comment was going to be.. this looks like a battery killer and idunno why you would ever wanna patent it.
Fish are friends, not food!
Neither is Slow Internet.

And how would staring at a view of the ground below me help me at all?

Its funny how the most simplest of tweaks are not on the phone to begin with. I'm sure it will be integrated into iOS 8.

I wish I could have my phones wallpaper could be like this.

Now Apple will use it to bludgeon Samsung and make millions off it while talented coders get to eat burgers for a paltry $1.50 per app. Oh and that's if the hack repos don't have at it for free! Slavery, correction Indentured Servitude (i.e. Wage Slavery) still exists. Sickening and sad!

Yup, it's compatible
I know It really is sad how Apple does business, and how rampant piracy is in our community.
I wish I could say I don't mind, but I really, really do. We put all this work in, then people see nothing wrong with just blatantly stealing my work and giving it away for free, meanwhile I get less and less motivated every day.
But, I keep telling myself, I'm not in it for the money, I'm in it because I love what I do

Demon Thieves work for Apple who are always stealing great ideas from others and then passing them off as their own.
Then, Apple sues all competitors who came up with the ideas or products in the first place so that Apple can monopolize technology and shut down all competition so that "only" Apple can profit and get more of their ($$ - demonically earned dollars - $$) in the end.
The Filthy Greedy Pigs should be removed from Apple's management and legal team because they are a blight on an otherwise great company.
The system of U.S. patenting is beyond corruption and repair. The future belongs to those who will fight this type of tyranny or we can do nothing and be the broken tired dying slaves who have no need to exist.
