Default Apple Releases iOS 7.0.6, Includes a Fix for SSL Connection Verification

Apple recently issued a minor update for its mobile operating system with iOS 7.0.6 fixing an issue with SSL connection verification. The new update is available by accessing the Software Update option in the native Settings application on a compatible iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. The security update can also be installed by connecting a device to a Mac or PC and downloading iOS 7.0.6 through iTunes.

The sixth update for iOS 7 arrives less than a month after Apple released its previous update, intended to address some network issues associated with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C when being used in China.

As of right now, iOS 7.1 is still in beta testing, with its fourth pre-release build being supplied to developers just last week. The iOS 7.1 release is said to be more full-featured and is expected to contain numerous tweaks for the iOS 7 platform. It is being reported to arrive mid-March and include a major overhaul of Apple’s Mobile Device Management mass deployment system, while launching alongside a totally new “Volume Services” web client.

Also released today was iOS 6.1.6 for legacy devices. This update is available for the iPhone 3GS and fourth-generation iPod touch, both of which cannot run iOS 7.

Same advice as last time! Stay away from 7.0.6 if jailbroken, and we'll update evasi0n7 if possible (this sounds like an important fix!)

No it doesn't. I released a patched version of evasi0n here.

7.0.5 was only for some iPhone 5s and 5c users.

Who is this guy that said he patched evasi0n? No updates from musclenerd or the evasi0n website as of now.
They can have my jailbreak when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

According to a post on reddit, it just stopped signing it.
As for 7.0.6, there are unofficially modified Evasion builds around which allow updated devices to be included in the supported list. The current official Evasion build won't let you start the process as it doesn't recognize iOS 7.0.6 as a supported firmware. I just jailbrake my 5S with one of these unofficial builds and had 0 problems, already restored all my tweaks with PKGBackup and the ones I tried so far work flawlessly. Now doing the same on my iPad4 (currently syncing AppStore apps, then I'll JB).

Uh, yeah - don't trust that guy or his link. These "unofficial" jailbreaks sound like security issues waiting to happen.

There is a way to mod a evasi0n to get it to work with the ios 7.0.6 its on the net

    Hex edit does the trick

It's is jailbreakable but only via modified versions of Evasi0n. I will most likely be one of the couple hundred to use the modified version to update ASAP. If evasi0n isn't updated by the end of the day tomorrow (which it most likely will not be) I will be using the version made by myjailbreakmovies on YouTube. He is extremely reliable however modified versions in the way he did can be unreliable at times so proceed at your own risk as I am doing.

They should release iOS 5.1.2 also. I know they don't support software for the original iPad but still.

According to Redmond pie the update doesn't patch any exploits... So either we go in and do the Hex modification to make evasi0n recognize the new FW or we wait for evasi0n to get an update...

  26. #19
Anyone here try the hex mod and does it cause any problems?

  27. #20
**update. Everything went well with the hex edit way. Through caution to the wind and did it. iPhone 5 using windows 7. Confirmed working**
