Default 'Athena 2 (iOS 7)' Lets You Apply Tint Effects to Your iOS 7 App Icons

Last year, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called Athena by iOS developer Vatsal Manot that allowed you to add tint effects to your Home Screen application icons. An iOS 7-compatible version of the tweak dubbed Athena 2 (iOS 7) is now available in Cydia and has the same idea in mind for your iOS 7 application icons, only with some additional features.

Athena 2 (iOS 7) is a free upgrade for those that own Athena already, but for those that don't, it will set you back just 99. The tweak comes with a variety of tinting, opacity, and blending mode options to make your Home Screen application icons look more unique than anyone else's.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the various options:

You can enable or disable the tinting on demand, configure the tint color, configure the tint blending mode, configure the tint intensity, enable or disable jittering, enable or disable and configure application icon opacity, and enable or disable and configure application icon label opacity.

From the Tint Color cell, you can pick the tint color to apply to all of your application icons, or to apply to each of your application icons individually:

The tint color options you'll find available to you include:

    • Black
    • Dark gray
    • Light gray
    • White
    • Gray
    • Red
    • Green
    • Blue
    • Cyan
    • Yellow
    • Magenta
    • Orange
    • Purple
    • Brown
    • Clear

The color intensities you have to choose from include:

    • 0.10
    • 0.20
    • 0.30
    • 0.40
    • 0.50
    • 0.60
    • 0.70
    • 0.80
    • 0.90
    • 1.00

The blend modes you have to choose from include:

    • Normal
    • Multiply
    • Screen
    • Overlay
    • Darken
    • Lighten
    • Color Dodge
    • Color Burn
    • Soft Light
    • Hard Light
    • Difference
    • Exclusion
    • Hue
    • Saturation
    • Color
    • Luminosity
    • Clear
    • Copy
    • Source In
    • Source Out
    • Source Atop
    • Destination Over
    • Destination In
    • Destination Out
    • Destination Atop
    • XOR
    • Plus Darker
    • Plus Lighter

With all the different options made available to you, it's simple for you to start going to town to configuring all of your application icons to look different than they would right out of the box. If you want to give Athena 2 (iOS 7) a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for 99. The tweak requires iOS 7 to be installed.

This works really well! It seems a lot easier to use than Athena 1, and the icons in the list are generated from your active theme, which is a nice little touch.

The only problem I see is that the clock app icon doesn't theme for whatever reason.

There was a tweak from Cydia released last year on iOS 6 that did that, can't remember the name though.

Yea I know, really just did it to bump the topic, hoping someone who knew would see it, I've been looking for it since upgrading to iOS 7.

HAHA! I know it's been a while, but I found the tweak that captures screen shots like that. It's called Capture View it's on the BigBoss Repo for a $1.
