'CameraTweak 2' Supercharges Your iOS 7 Camera Application With Popular Features
A couple of years ago, we showed you a new jailbreak tweak called CameraTweak by iOS developer Samball that allowed you to supercharge the stock Camera application with a number of new features that you would normally need to download a third-party application from the App Store to have.
If you're not familiar with the tweak, it brought features like separating focus from exposure, time lapse photography, timed photography, resolution settings, white balance lock, and more.
The tweak has just been re-created with iOS 7 in mind in the latest version of the tweak dubbed CameraTweak 2 (iOS 7), and is now available in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak adds all of these features and more to the iOS 7 Camera application, as shown above.
For manual focus and exposure, the user can drag the focus box away from the exposure orb, and literally have separate focus from exposure in a photograph. Users can also change the resolution of the photograph for greater or lower quality, lock the white balance at a specific point in time, take advantage of time lapse, or even set a timer for the camera to go off after a certain amount of time.
The tweak also has features to offer for those that use their Camera application for video recording and not photography. Video recorders still get to separate focus from the exposure, can pick their own frame rate settings, can pick their own resolution settings, can take snapshots while recording, and can lock the white balance to their liking.
Users can swipe up from the shutter button to reveal bubbles that allow them to toggle timer mode, time lapse mode, white balance lock, and more. The resolution settings are found right next to the shutter button.
CameraTweak 2 (iOS 7) adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a couple of options:
You'll be able to enable or disable advanced mode for either camera mode or video mode, or both, and you'll also be able to remember or forget your settings in the Camera application.
For the iPhone photographer out there, it's a very easy choice to pick this tweak over some third-party application from the App Store, mainly because this tweak integrates everything into the stock iOS 7 Camera application without the need to clutter your Home Screen with yet another application icon for your camera. Everything this tweak has to offer is very easy to use, and if you want more power over your photographs, this is certainly the way to go.
New buyers of CameraTweak 2 (iOS 7) will have to shell out a mere $1.49 to grab this awesome tweak, but if you own the original CameraTweak already, then CameraTweak 2 (iOS 7) is only a 99¢ upgrade. It's available right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository and requires an iOS 7 device to be installed.
