Default 'Weatherboard' Lets You Set Your Favorite Animated Weather Conditions As Your Wallpaper

iOS 7 brought an all-new Weather application to iOS that includes animated backgrounds that simulate the Weather outside. All of the animated wallpapers are really neat to watch, and if you like them, you can now set any of them to your Lock Screen and/or Home Screen wallpaper with a new jailbreak tweak called Weatherboard by iOS developer Allen Kerr.

Once installed on your iOS device, the tweak will add a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

You'll be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as pick from either day or night versions of the large number of weather conditions... and when we say "large number," we're not joking:

Weatherboard includes more than 80 animated wallpapers that you can set for your Lock Screen and/or Home Screen between both the day and night conditions. The list of animated weather conditions that you can set as your wallpaper include the following:

    • Tornado
    • Hurricane
    • Isolated Thunderstorms
    • Scattered Thunderstorms
    • Thunderstorm
    • Severe Thunderstorm
    • Dust
    • Fog
    • Haze
    • Smoke
    • Hot
    • Sunny
    • Mostly Sunny
    • Cloudy
    • Drizzle
    • Isolated Showers
    • Scattered Showers
    • Showers
    • Rain
    • Heavy Rain
    • Tropical Storm
    • Mixed Rain and Snow
    • Mixed Rain and Sleet
    • Mixed Snow and Sleet
    • Freezing Drizzle
    • Freezing Rain
    • Isolated Snow Showers
    • Scattered Snow Showers
    • Snow Showers
    • Flurries
    • Snow
    • Heavy Snow
    • Blowing Snow
    • Blizzard
    • Mixed Rainfall
    • Hail
    • Sleet
    • Frigid
    • Breezy
    • Windy

When you find one that you like, and you select it, you'll be given the usual iOS "set wallpaper" interface, where you can pick between setting the wallpaper as the Home Screen wallpaper, Lock Screen wallpaper, or both. You can set separate animated weather wallpapers for the Home Screen and Lock Screen:

Not only will you have the entertainment of setting any animated weather condition as your Home Screen and/or Lock Screen wallpaper, but you'll also get the chance to see all of the weather animations that come included in iOS 7 that you otherwise might never get to see in your location because of climate differences around the world, so this tweak is actually really fun to play with. You can check out the developer's demonstration video of the tweak below:

At this point in time, Weatherboard is not fully compatible with some Status Bar-modding tweaks, so you should be careful of the Status Bar-modding tweaks that you have installed on your iOS device before installing Weatherboard. We used StatusHUD 2 while testing Weatherboard, and that one seemed to work fine with the tweak. The developer is working to fix incompatibilities with some Status Bar-modding tweaks in a future update. In addition to this, a future update will also allow you to set the wallpaper based on the weather of your location.

Weatherboard is compatible with the iPhone 4s and later, as long as the device is running iOS 7.0 or later. If you want to give Weatherboard a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $1.49.

    Name: Weatherboard
    Price: $1.49
    Version: 1.0.0-14
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.5, iPhone 4s or later
Tested on: iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: Allan Kerr
    Editor's Rating:  5/5

Yeah I got it, reading that he has upcoming plans to add features in coming weeks. Only issue I see so far are? says you can set it for and/or LS and wallpapers. But when trying to set my wallpaper while leaving my LS with Weathboard, it doesn't work.

Does it rely on Winterboard? If not, I'm sold. S&Gs will be my buying point as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't "Forecast" do this already? Also with Forecast you can set it to animate the wallpaper like the lockscreen.

The point is visual aesthetics. Just like how looking at a picture of a lightning strike looks cool, watching a video of a beautiful weather animation is as well. It has nothing to do with giving information, just eye candy.

This is pretty bad ass. If I still had an iPhone, I'd be all over this.

The crash/safe mode is prb due to the conflict between the Dybamic Wallpaper and the animated wallpaper in this tweak.
The battery drain will always occur when there is any animation in the lockscreen or home screen.
I was running the Forecast tweak with the animation and did notice that my battery would drain faster.
The price we pay for having animated tweaks.
