Default 'Swipey' is a Beautiful Lock Screen Application Launcher Tweak for iOS 7

iOS 7 was just recently jailbroken, and while some jailbreak developers are working to update their existing tweaks and applications for iOS 7, others are working on completely new tweaks for the new operating system.

One of the latest releases is a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Swipey by iOS developer Tyler Nettleton. Swipey is an all-new lock screen application launcher tweak, and itís designed with iOS 7 in mind Ė so itís needless to say that itís absolutely stunning.

As shown above, if you swipe to the left on your lock screen, you will be able to launch one of six user-defined applications very easily, right from the lock screen. As you swipe, the background changes to match the interface of the application you land on; you can continue swiping to go through all six of the applications. The application that you swipe to, and let sit on the display for a couple of seconds, opens up for you with no additional effort required.

Nettleton gives a brief demonstration of the tweak in his demo video below:

Swipey adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where the user can set the six applications that they want to add shortcuts to the lock screen for:

Gorgeously put together, and ingeniously engineered, Swipey is one of the most impressive new jailbreak tweaks for iOS 7 yet. If you want to give it a try, it's available for $1.99 in Cydia's BigBoss repository. Notably, the tweak is not compatible with iPads.

    Name: Swipey
    Price: $1.99
    Version: 1.0
Requirements: iOS 7.0-7.0.4, iPhone or iPod touch
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: Tyler Nettleton
    Editor's Rating:  5/5

I really don't care for the fact that I can't decide for myself how many panes/pages I use.

Also don't like the fact you have to swipe 6 to the left to get the PIN code. How about swipe to the right for the apps and still swipe to the left for pin code.

Causes about a 2-3 second delay when home button is pushed from lock screen before screen lights up. Good effort just needs some tweaking. Had to uninstall for now. An alternative app that I'm hoping will be updated for iOS 7 very soon is Atom.

    I noticed that as well.
I'll check Atom out as an alternative!

I just logged in to write the same thing. Would be a great app once this gets sorted out but for now I will uninstall. Keep up the great work though!!

Thanks for the heads up on this. Hopefully it can be optimized and some of the suggested features (left to PIN/etc) are implemented. I could see myself using it.

Yay useful comments for a change (thank you!) instead of the usual whining about how it doesn't work on the 5s. Especially helpful when the app costs money.

Can someone kindly please explain to me why tweak requires iOS 7? I don't see anything about it that specifically needs iOS 7 and I see no reason why this couldn't work on pre-7-iOS.

In layman's terms, iOS7 is a completely different software than iOS6, iOS5, etc. If you have a PC, think Windows Vista, versus Windows 7. So, when a Developer decides to create a brand new tweak, if they decide to not make it compatible with previous software then it will not be compatible.

    Clear as mud?

    1) Windows Vista and Windows 7 share the same base system architecture and I've yet to encounter anything that runs in one that doesn't run in the other (save for some edge cases involving mainly installers that do incorrect artificial tests.)

    2) There are so many tweaks that that have been updated recently that work on both iOS7 and pre-iOS7. This isn't really an excuse. Yes, it's a developer's choice, but that doesn't mean that is is s good one. I can understand if said developer lacked a device running a pre-iOS7 OS for testing, but other developers are able to find willing testers without much problem, so this shouldn't been an issue. iOS 6 is still desirable, especially among those who don't care for the new look and feel of iOS 7, so unlike previous major iOS upgrades, this one has a much greater divide, and so developers should remain mindful of that, rather than creating new tweaks for only one side and treating everyone else as unworthy just because they don't want to upgrade.

I agree! Get so frustrated with all the complaining. I paid for the tweak and didn't care for it (for now). Just wanted to pass along my opinion.

I didn't like the look and feel of iOS 7 either...at first. But once you have it for a bit it grows on you. It's definitely an upgrade. Just do it! Anyway, I saw in Cydia an iOS 6 theme for iOS 7. Not sure all of the details, but I do remember seeing that it restored all of the iOS 6 icons. May be worth looking into...
