'Virtual Home' Lets iPhone 5s Users Touch Touch ID in Place of the Home Button
For those of you that have a jailbroken iPhone 5s, you can now grab a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed Virtual Home by iOS developer moeseth.
Virtual Home is made specifically for the iPhone 5s. It takes advantage of the device's Touch ID feature to make it easier to close applications, access the App Switcher, and unlock your iOS device.
Rather than pressing the home button to do these things, you can just tap on the Touch ID sensor instead. This puts less wear and tear on the home button over time, and makes better use of the Touch ID sensor. Notably, the Touch ID sensor won't try and pick up your fingerprint – it will just detect if you've touched the Touch ID sensor or not.
To close out of an application, you will tap on the Touch ID sensor once. To open the App Switcher, you will tap and hold on the Touch ID sensor.
In addition, the tweak also makes it so you don't have to press the home button or the sleep button while the device is locked to unlock the device. Rather, you can just tap on the Touch ID sensor to wake the device up.
This tweak makes good use of the device's Touch ID sensor to reduce wear and tear on the device, and not only that, it's a great idea too. If you want to give Virtual Home a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository. It doesn't have any options to configure.

I absolutely LOVE this little tweak!!!
I didn't realize how much I pressed Home until now. I don't even have to press it to turn on my phone anymore!

Very good. However I'm a little concern about battery life since the touch sensor will be active wile the phone is in sleep mode.

Just the thing I was waiting for. It is simple and works as stated.
It does however have a slight lag when the ID sensor is tapped. I'd love it if it could have no lag, but still it is what I'll use from now on.
Perhaps the lag is due to the system first recognizing that the sensor is being touched and thus nothing can be done about it.

I wonder how often you'll "accidentally" close an app if you "accidentally" touch the sensor.

Pressing the Home Button is still faster by a couple milliseconds but I just need to retrain myself on how I use my phone. Other than that, this tweak ROX!!!

What's the chance of the touch id sensor going bad because of constant use with this tweak? Otherwise, I like it a lot. Giving some brake the the home button.
