Default British Airways Pushes toward Use of Electronic Devices at All Stages of Flight

Following the recent FFA rulings in the US, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has now followed suit by relaxing the restrictions on electronic device usage during flight. One of the first major Airlines to move to get on board with the new guidelines is British Airways, which is currently in discussions with the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) over making it happen on its flights. Business Traveller mentioned the following regarding the matter:

A spokesperson for the airline said: "British Airways is working closely with the UK CAA and hopes to be in a position to announce a relaxation in the rules around the use of handheld electronic devices very soon."
Under the new regulations, smaller devices such as an iPhone or iPad, eReaders and portable game consoles can be used gate-to-gate so long as they’re in flight mode. Larger devices such as laptops will still have to be put away for safety reasons. With the guidelines published, British Airways may be the first of many to implement them as soon as possible, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Stupidest fcking thing to do, there is a reason the rule was there before, to have your attention while landing and taking off to have people alert if anything were to go wrong. Why the hell can people not wait for 5 damn minutes.!!

you're argument is absolutely invalid. the use of electronic devices changes nothing. people often talk, sleep or read books during these phases of the flight. also, even when it's allowed, you can see most people are not using any electronics anyway. so how does it really make a significant difference?
