On Friday, the Spotify music-streaming application for iOS has received an update adding in a number of new features and improvements to the application. Friday's update brings the application up to version 0.9.1.

One of the notable new features will come useful to those using various models of Apple’s iPad. Spotify now lets iPad users take advantage of the browse feature, which the company notes is replacing the “What’s New” feature in the application. The browse feature has been available for iPhone and iPod touch users already.

Spotify is also rolling out the ability to follow your favorite artists, as well as friends, from the mobile application. Doing so will allow users to see upcoming releases from artists, as well as friends’ playlists. This will help in music discovery for users to take advantage of the feature. Users can choose to make playlists either public, or secret.

Spotify has also been given some improvements, such as more responsive searching, an improved sign in and sign up screen, a new look for playlists, and a bug fix for sharing. Some features have not rolled out to all users just yet.

Existing users of the Spotify application will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Spotify for iOS for free from this App Store link.
