Default China Unicom Reports 100K iPhone 5S, 5C Reservations

It was a strong showing for Apple's two new iPhones this past weekend in China.

According to published reports Monday morning, China Unicom - China second-largest wireless carrier - reported that online reservations for Apple's iPhone 5C and 5S have already topped 100,000 units.

The new iPhones officially launch in China this Friday, September 20th. Amidst rampant rumors and evidence that a deal with China Mobile is also imminent, Apple could have a record-breaking iPhone sales rush across the Asian continent in the months ahead.

China Mobile Ltd. doesn’t have a distribution agreement with Apple for the iPhone. Cupertino, California-based Apple is close to securing a deal with China Mobile and is preparing to ship iPhones to the carrier, a person with knowledge of the matter said earlier this month.
Despite increasingly positive news out of Asia, shares of Apple are down another $10 today, roughly $50 lower per share since shortly before Apple unveiled its two newest iPhones.

Why does this not seem like a very high number to me. I thought, in the past, the pre-orders blew this number out of the water but maybe I'm wrong

apple has a lot of catching up to do. A 14% market share up against an 80% is not something that will change with the release of a sub par/average phone launch.

Why is China able to reserve an iPhone 5S and we are not able to do so in the US?

Apple is a US company, and I release iPhones are manufactured over there, but still. (unfair!)

The carriers are allowing the pre-order, not Apple. I assume out carriers could do the same thing but have either been persuaded by Apple not to, or want people in the stores to maximize accessory sales. Regardless, there will be a shortage of 5s's to go around. I'm trying to get 2 on Friday if I'm able to.

I'm not gonna wait in no stupid lines, but come Friday, I'm gonna wander over to my local Apple store and/or AT&T store, and if there's a relatively short line and enough phones, I might just end up getting an unlocked iPhone 5S.

That's an intellectually dishonest comparison you're making there.. seeing as iOS only runs on "1 phone type" and Android OS runs on scores of different phone types by many manufacturers. The proper comparison to make is between Apple and any "1" other single company that runs Android. Compare Nexus to Apple or Samsung to Apple - then you'll see that Apple's 14-19% (varies year to year) market share is a very impressive and nearly dominant market share. You Fandroid guys kill me with your propaganda!! Lol!!
Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!
