Default Easily Access Up to Five Recently-used Apps With 'Reminisce'

Reminisce is a new jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Brian Cooper that aims to give iOS users an easier way to get to recently opened applications. With this tweak, the user can swipe left from the right edge of the display to reveal an application tray that shows up to five of your latest-used applications. You can then move your finger over one of the application icons, let go of the display, and the application you had your finger on when you let go of the display will be opened.

Reminisce is more than just an easier way to multitask. It's fully customizable too. Upon installing, you can head over to the tweak's preferences pane in the Settings application to find a plethora of different options to change to your liking:

You'll find four sections in the preferences pane, although only three of them (Animations, Behavior, and Appearance) include settings that you can customize. The last section is an About section that gives you more information about the tweak.

From the Animations cell, you can:

    • Choose to have either a Push or a Flat animation style
    • Configure the behavior of the Flat animation style
    • Choose the animation style of the application icons and application icon labels

In the Behavior cell, you can:

    • Enable or disable Reminisce on demand
    • Choose to swipe in from the left side of the screen or the right side of the screen to reveal the tray
    • Choose to swipe up or down on the edge of the screen to reveal the tray
    • Choose to reveal the tray only with an Activator action

Within the Appearance cell, you can:

    • Blur the outside of the Reminisce interface
    • Dim the outside of the Reminisce interface
    • Fade the icons or labels of the the inactive application icons
    • Enable or disable application icon labels in the tray
    • Choose the positioning of application icon labels in the tray
    • Choose a background color for the tray

The developer notes that on some older devices, the blurring effects may cause slowness because of the slower hardware.

Reminisce isn’t an App Switcher replacement. The App Switcher will still let you pick between all applications that have been suspended in the device’s memory until you physically close them. Reminisce is just a simple way for you to quickly move between applications with the least amount of steps possible. Not to mention, it feels right and it's easy to get used to. One thing is certain though, and that's that you can definitely accomplish the same task with the App Switcher – it's simply the choice of what method you prefer more.

If you want to give Reminisce a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $1.99. The tweak is compatible with iOS 6.0 and later.

Rather than the 5 most recent apps.. would be cool for it to learn the 5 most commonly used apps instead.

It works pretty well. I like the ability to blacklist certain apps. I also just discovered that it works on the lock screen too, if the device is not pass code locked.

Try "App Tracker" it keeps track of how long you have been running all apps.

I'm loving the new app-switcher in iOS 7. I find that half the time I search for and use just the icons and the other half the time my eye catches the right screenshot and I click that. Apple did a great job of keeping the old while adding a new way to switch apps seamlessly on top of that. It just works. I haven't tried this app being reviewed but it sounds like a gesture launched app switcher, nothing more. Are there not already ways to use activator to launch the switcher now, even from the lock screen?
They can have my jailbreak when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Now my favorite tweak of all time...and it doesn't use activator, saving ram. possibly the smoothest animation of any cydia tweak EVER!

Thats exactly what the stock multitasking dock does.
just double click the home button and you get the exact same thing and it works without jailbreaking or cydia......
Oh, and my way is FREE.

How about I make an app where you hit a button, lets say the top power button and it puts the iphone into some sort of standby mode like a lock screen.
Or how about I make an app that lets you make phone calls on the iPhone....

I wonder WHY some of these apps are even made and I still wonder WHO would be stupid enough to pay for them.

People actually paid $1.99 for a stock feature?

Man try the tweak and quite your belly aching. You might like it. Especially if you disabled your home button to avoid pocket siri activation or pocket dialing. Add double click icon activation tweak and no mystery texts or pocket pictures ever and no fear of mistakingly draining your precious battery. how about not having a working home button to double click? Don't be cheap support the devs!
