Any idea why apple did that for such a small window??
A glitch most likely with the Dev Center issues & stuff...either way it allowed a small percentage of ppl to get back on a 6X JB!

Users only had 8 minutes to read the tweet, download the ipsw and restore. .0009% of ex-jailbreakers probably got through anyways.

Agreed! Heck we can upgrade/downgrade as we please on our Macs just not our iDevices! I still managed to DG tho...from iOS7b3 to.... 6.1.4 😂

7 doesn't do it for me...

Well he's right on this one at least..

Apple should absolutely allow downgrades.. especially with the iOS7 release looming.. there are MANY people who don't want that look and feel.. Apple's response would probably be "You're not forced to upgrade" but that's also not exactly true.. Many of the knowledge base/support articles on Apple's site call for restoring the firmware in certain situations.. I've had to a couple of times.. so if I'm on iOS6 and something happens that calls for a restore.. I'm SOL.. I HAVE NO CHOICE but to install iOS7 ..

To me that's just plain pathetic .. let's start a petition! lol

This isn't the first time they've done something like this. I got kicked from the EFNET #iPhone channel when I insisted that I was able to downgrade an iPhone 3GS or an iPod Touch 2G (can't remember which). Pretty sure it was BigBoss who didn't believe me and threatened to ban me if I continued talking about it. I never insisted it was anything other than a momentary fluke, but they didn't care.

I didn't restore, but this is where already having the IPSW downloaded comes in handy. I download every IPSW for my devices on each software version and save them to an external hard drive :P

Agreed. They should at least always allow restore to the currently installed firmware on the device.

While I agree you should be able to downgrade or restore to a currently installed firmware version, you have to look at it from apples side. If they let people downgrade for a jailbreak, you have to remember that those security exploits were created to use a jailbreak, but they also pose a security threat as someone could use them to gain access to devices, and with the jailbreak public they know exactly where the "holes" are In the firmware.

I'll wait for the iOS 7 JB. Happy for those that were able to downgrade and take advantage tho.
