Default Yahoo! Weather Updated With Highly-demanded New App Icon

Yahoo! in April released a standalone Yahoo! Weather application into the App Store, which many iOS device users warmed up to. The application’s interface was very clean, extra informative, and many people loved it apart from one thing… the ugly purple application icon that just didn't seem to fit anywhere on the home screen.

The Yahoo! Weather application gives detailed information about the weekly forecast, the current conditions outside based on automatic location handling, details about the humidity, what it feels like, and visibility, as well as a weather description, a radar map, precipitation levels, wind and pressure levels, and the sun and moon information for the day.

Yahoo! has Saturday issued an update to the Yahoo! Weather application for the sole purpose of updating the application icon, as it was the most complained about feature of the application. Yahoo! claims in the update’s notes that they “got the feedback” and have updated the icon due to popular request.

The update doesn’t change the application’s features any, but the application’s splash screen is also updated to be blue like the new application icon, rather than purple:

The update also adds some minor performance enhancements, but nothing else major. Existing users of Yahoo!’s Weather application for iOS will find the update under the Updates tab of the App Store. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Yahoo! Weather for iOS via this App Store link.

Do you like the new application icon more than the last?

Nice change but I want to be able to remove some of the widgets, like the map...
I dont think this app icon change (on its own) deserved a post tbh

Needs the temp badge on the icon or else it's not making it to my Springboard. #Fahrenheit

The icon only changed during the loading portion. After it installed, the same ugly icon is still there; even after re-booting.

iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.2. Also using aeycon theme

Same here on my 5 running 6.1 and the girlfriend's 4 running 6.1. Both using the Ayecon theme.

Turning off the Ayecon springboard in WinterBoard brings up the new icon, but it returns when Ayecon's springboard is reenabled.
