Default Apple Pulls "Bang with Friends" App from App Store

The Facebook-connected hookup app named “Bang with Friends” was recently pulled from Apple’s App Store, with the removal coming just a little over a week following the app’s debut. For those of you who were unfamiliar with it, Bang with Friends, is a Facebook integrated app that lets users' hookup with friends on the social network. It originally hit the App Store last week but it seems Apple found an issue with the app, leading to its recent takedown.

Furthermore, the Bang with Friends mobile webpage is also down with a “Be Right Back” message, though it is unclear whether the two issues are related or not. According to the app cofounder, Colin Hodge, Apple hasn’t given any official response as to why the app was removed.

Although the app’s title may be somewhat crude, the service behind it is actually an anonymous matchmaking service that is limited to a Facebook user’s friends list. To use the app, a Facebook account holder signs up with the service and selects friends they wouldn’t mind “hooking up” with. If that friend also happens to be a member of BWF and has selected the same person as a potential match, emails are sent to each user notifying them a match has been made. The concept behind the whole app and its service is that it is anonymous, meaning users will not be alerted when a friends wants to “hookup” unless they have also shown interest.

Apple hasn’t responded to any requests regarding the pulling of the app but the company has taken a stricter stance on apps that contain questionable content. An example of this was seen with Twitter-owned Vine, which was stripped of its App Store’s Editors’ Choice designation after the app’s curators accidentally featured a snippet that contained inappropriate content.

We’ll have to wait and see Apple’s reasoning and the app developer’s response.

Apple are like grannies. Complaining about the smallest thing. No wonder Android is growing in popularity.

I'm Indian and she understands me just fine in one take. I mostly use Siri for alarms, reminders.

Facebook and all apps that require Facebook are just stupid.

It's prolly called marketing. Got your attention didn't it. I think it's a pretty cool app. Obviously have never used it or will I ever but I see the logic behind it.

I mean you would struggle to use Siri if you don't know the difference between stopped and stooped.

Siri has a hard time understanding you huh?...... Well I can't Imagine why....... Hell your paragraph had me stumped! Maybe you should "try to" take some spelling and English classes! Just saying!

Really cause I'm French and and I use the English Siri and I have no issues at all. You must really be doing it wrong.

Sex is so open nowadays this app is next to pointless in my opinion. Most people are already banging their facebook friends, and if not, get on it! People shouldn't need an app to tell them they can hook up on facebook. Live or die regretting

Siri sux. Bang with friends just doesn't fit in with pristine Apple. Even tho I don't mind it at all.

...and that is one of the reasons Apple is losing market share with smart phone users. Kids aren't paying their own bills and shouldn't have unsupervised access to the 'net anyway.

Schools allow unsupervised access to the net... My high school's just took down there restrictions last week on both the computer servers and wifi (and every restriction too kids already were on 'the hub' at school". My school was actually one of the last schools around here to do it. It's not uncommon anymore

If you're in a classroom without a teacher then surfing for pron will not be the biggest issue that comes up before the end of the year.
