Default 'NotesTweak' Adds Several New Features to the Notes App in iOS

iOS’ Notes application is a handy way to jot down stuff so you don’t forget it later on. On the other hand, it’s lacking so many features that could b potentially very helpful. A new jailbreak tweak called NotesTweak by iOS developer Lee McDermott adds some useful features to the Notes application that any Notes application power-users will enjoy using.

One of the main features is being able to favorite individual notes, as shown above. Notes that are favorited are displayed at the top of the list of notes, so that you can easily find them out of all the rest of the notes you may have in the Notes application. The favorite button appears at the bottom of the application when viewing a note, right next to the Action Button.

Tapping on the Action Button reveals a new feature that allows you to save notes to the home screen for ease of access. This is great for when you have an important note and want to keep it in an easy-to-access location for easy editing. Tapping on the shortcut brings you straight to the note that you added to the home screen. When creating a note for the home screen, you will be able to name it, just like you do with Safari bookmarks on the home screen:

NotesTweak also comes with Dropbox support, so you can upload individual notes to Dropbox so you can access them from anywhere. You can upload notes as text files, or HTML files. You can configure that option from the tweak’s preferences pane in the Settings application, as well as configure how notes are ordered in the Notes application:

The developer of NotesTweak tells us that the tweak is under heavy development and that even more features are going to be arising soon. At the moment, the tweak is already feature-filled enough to keep most Notes-users happy, but the additional features will be a plus. The developer has a Web site for the tweak with a demonstration video and more information, which can be viewed here.

NotesTweak requires iOS 6 to install, and it’s only $1.99 in Cydia’s BigBoss repository if you’re interested in giving it a try!

    Requirements: iOS 6
    Repo: BigBoss

I have 30+ paid apps/tweaks, so I'm not one to ***** about paying for good development, but this is truly a .99 tweak at most. My humble .02.

Add in FaceBook and Twitter share integration like ShareNotes as well as the ability to push to spotlight like ToDoNotes and you'd have a winner worth $2.

The option to save notes to the home screen should be native in iOS. I don't use notes enough to justify paying $2 for it but it seems like a cool tweak.

Add in Evernote support and it would be closer to being worth $1.99.
