Default 'Grabby' Lets You Switch Between Lock Screen Grabbers for Different App Shortcuts

Back in December of last year, we showed you a concept by Sentry_NC that allowed you to switch your lock screen Camera Grabber into a Music grabber, Messages grabber, or a Phone grabber. This concept has been brought to life by iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich as a jailbreak tweak called Grabby.

With Grabby, you can just hold down on your Camera Grabber, then slide to the left, and you will find all of the grabber options you can slide over to in order to launch the respective applications:

Before you can even use Grabby, you will need to configure it through the Settings application. From here, you can select the application that will open from the Camera grabber, the Music grabber, the Phone grabber, and the Messages grabber. You don’t have to use Apple’s stock applications, as you can use third party App Store applications if you’d like, but the stock applications are what we have used:

You won’t find Grabby in any of the public repositories, as it’s only available in Ryan’s beta repository. If you want to add Grabby to your jailbroken iOS device, add Ryan Petrich’s beta repository by following the steps below:

    • tap on the Manage tab
    • tap on the Sources button
    • tap on the Edit button
    • tap on the Add button
    • enter the following URL and then tap Add Source:

    PHP Code:
    http://rpetri.ch/repo/
NOTE: The tweak is currently considered to be in beta, so you may experience some GUI glitches.

Wow very nice! Finally a decent lock screen launcher!

Fairly buggy at the moment, but I trust this will be outstanding once complete

One of the more useful tweaks I've seen in a long time.

How do you unlock your phone?

  6. #6
On an iPhone 4S running 6.1.2 with Lockinfo installed its not working.

I can slide the camera icon left to reveal the launcher icons but as soon as I remove my finger from the screen the camera icon slides immediately to the right so covering the launcher icons.

Flip. Just realised it is working, I was using it wrong!

    Sorry.

With the Slide to unlock slider.

The Grabby tweak only appears after you tap and hold on the Camera Grabber.

    Try it out.

Works good for me so far on my iPhone 5. The only thing is the screen goes black for a split second before going to each dedicated app. I love how you can customize each toggle.

I had forgotten about a tweak that I had on iOS 5. It's called locksliderz and for right now I like that a little bit better. This is a great tweak because it hides the apps better. But I'm going to stick to locksliderz for a little while longer.

Only problem is it by-passes the pass code lock.

I'm extremely happy to see this concept come to life. Especially from such a great dev. As of Beta 0.2, Grabby is almost perfect. Minor flaws of course but its a Beta so that is expected. Hope it gets SubtleLock support in the future (even if it is the distant future like official launch). Keep it up, Ryan!
