Default 'Icon Tool' Gives You More Control Over Your Apps

If you’re interested in having more control over your home screen applications, then you’ll definitely want to check out a new jailbreak tweak called Icon Tool by iOS developer ioshack. Icon Tool pulls up the menu shown above whenever you put your iOS device into jiggle mode and then triple-tap on an application icon.

From the menu, you will be able to perform any of the following actions for the application that you triple-tap on:

    • Open in iFile
    • Clear badge
    • Launch
    • Delete
    • Clear caches
    • Back up data
    • Restore data

These features are very powerful. The open in iFile feature is handy when you have a game, or another application, and want to edit its contents. This is particularly popular among game players that want to unlock items without playing through the game and earning them. Clear badge, launch, and delete are all pretty obvious, so there’s no need to explain those.

Clear caches will come in handy for applications that accumulate large amounts of data over time, such as Spotify, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube. Clearing the cache of an application empties the application’s caches and opens up more of your storage space. Backing up and restoring data is great for when you want to retain an application's state after deleting it, and then bring that application's state back when you install it again.

When you clear an application’s cache, you will get a nice little notification like the one shown below:

Icon Tool is compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 5 or later. The developer promises to add even more features in the future. You will find this handy little jailbreak tweak in Cydia’s BigBoss repository right now for just 99!

    Name: Icon Tool
    Price: $1
    Version: 1.0-1
    Requirements: iOS 5+
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: ioshack
    Editor's Rating: / 4.5/5

Not sure I'd want it just because it only works through edit mode which seems to use a lot of battery power quite fast. But it's definitely one of the more useful and creative tweaks. Good work

where in a dangerous place right now, one mistake and you lose your jailbreak.

I don't recommend being a guinea pig, while there is this danger

Edit: there needs to be an artical at how easily you can lose your jailbreak,

personally I've ground to a halt, that one mistake and you find yourself needing to restore, you end up on iOS 6.1.3 wishing you'd never added that new tweak that didn't play nice

I lost my jailbreak because something i added failed, or was incompatible with something else. I'm glad I have two iPhones, but the one that lost it's jailbreak still hurts.

I concur - dangerous times for jailbreaks. Some people just don't understand how much our jailbreak means to us. I had to wait MONTHS for my 4s jailbreak after it messed up because of tweaks (my fault, just saying).
So this time around I'm being very very VERY CAREFUL.
But as soon as 6.1.3 is out this is one I WILL TRY :-)

What kind of danger are you suggesting? You can safely boot up into safe mode no matter what.

well there is a first time for everything, also you can really screw up. by just making bad decisions

Edit: and just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it can't happen

You know you can just hold the volume buttons on start up now?

Only time you are really really really at danger is if your volume buttons are broken, and your power button and you can't get into safe mode. X)

actually, if your volume up button doesn't work, you can plug in some earbuds/headphones and use the selector/clicker button.

Not taking away from a great tweak, I do agree with dsg. I lost my jailbreak on my ipad2 and could not do anything within my knowledge
to get it out of a frozen mode, so I was forced to restore to factory,,,,,I use my iphone 5 more than my ipad2, however, I do miss the jb on the ipad2.
Now I will have to wait 2-3 months for the jb since nothing is being released until ios 7 is released. soooo (smiling) I tread very, very cautiously and
enjoy what I have now (which plays nice with each other and hope that nothing goes wrong) and I am creating a "to buy/wishlist" for when ios 7 is released in hopes my wishlist will be compatible with ios 7

This tweak and a few other are on my list but unfortunately I will not purchase till ios 7 jb is released,,,and if something goes wrong,,,then whala, I can re-jailbreak. thank you so much to the developers that continue to work diligently to update their creations to be compatible with ios 6 and those who are creating new tweaks, themes etc. etc. appreciate it very much

Hi WiiWendy,,,, from what I have read to date,,,, there will be no 6.1.3 jb ,,,, the teams are waiting for ios 7 to release the jb,,,,, they concluded
6.1.3 is just not 'big enough' of an update by apple so they are holding what they have for ios 7,,, enjoy what you have and tread lightly because I agree with you,,,, some just don't understand

Jail breaking an iPad is illegal in USA.
